British pop diva Springfield first heard «Io Che No Vivo Senza Te» at the 1965 San Remo song festival in Italy. She asked TV producer Wickham to write some English lyrics for it; Napier-Bell, the Yardbirds’ manager, chipped in, and the result was this amazing slice of symphonic pop. Springfield later called it «good old schmaltz.»
